Yep agree fantastic idea. Thanks Alfu for your input

I've done a couple posts that I wasn't sure where to fit them today. Seems we could use a dedicated section for Battery Charging and Testing maybe? Or does that already fit in with what you have planned? Otherwise it seems the Electrical section will become kinda a catch all.

Since the photos forum was pretty much batteries only anyway, I renamed it to "Batteries, Cells, and More".

Batteries, Cells, and More
- Testing cells
- Pictures of cells
- Discussions on charging cells
- Discussions on why Sanyo cells stink
- Discussions on why purple Samsung cells rock

Solar, Wind, and Electrical
- Charge controller discussions
- Cell holder discussions
- Fuses
- Inverters

What are your thoughts?

Awesome Mike!
I have been getting around 2750-2980ma on the purple Samsungs so far. I also got some dark grey cells ICR18650-28A-HENV that I ran over-night and they are coming in around 3300mah so far!
I'd include a pic but my data cable to the computer is connected to my capacity tester atm, lol.

I too came across some ICR18650-28A-HENV. Does anyone know what henv stands for? I can't find any documentation.

EJ, I can't remember exactly, but I found a spec sheet on these at one point and I seem to remember that the safe charge/discharge current was 3C/6C. Though they can be discharged at up to 10C for short periods. So the HE in HENV stands for High Energy I think. Can be safely charged at up to 9 amps (3C x 3000mah) and discharged at up to 18A.
I did try a 12 amp extended discharge on these cells and they didn't even begin to get warm until after a full minute. But obviously you would never want to get near even 1C in a mixed cell pack.

I'm new here so there might be a simple response, but...

A forum for new cells would be great. Called something like New Cells.

I have a couple of unknown cells and I have no idea what the best way of getting thisinfo to the admins of the database. It seems just posting willy nilly to here or to facebook is'nt the most reliable way of capturing the information...

Thanks - just my thoughts. :)

Craig.

Yes there is...
First up... Welcome!

Okay, if you have checked theCell Databaseand your cell is not there, then check the sub-forum Cell Data Specifications
In there you will find two threads:
If the cell is unknown and you are requestingidentification:Unknown Cells Need Identification
Or, if you know what they are and have data to share to add to the database:Cell Database Submissions and Updates

I've been away for quite a while. I didn't even know there was a DB here.
I started my own when I first started logging my cells a year ago, to try to document traits in different numbering schemes. However I found massive online databases online, after my first several hundred cells quantified. So I quit personal documentation after that.

They are a bit tricky to find, but look for PDFs from different groups when you Google search.
