Show threads as read up Topic tree

Ok, this is a little OCD bothering me here :p

If there is a thread in, let's say, For Sale, and you open it, when you go back to For Sale sub-Topic, it shows as read. But, when you click on the Root D.I.Y Powerwalls, it still shows as there's a thread that needs reading. You go back to the For Sale sub-Topic and it shows everything has been read.

Now, the only way I have been able to clear this, is to work up the sub-Topic tree. So, for this example, I'd go from For Sale, to Marketplace, to D.I.Y. This clears the "unread" flag on the topic listing.

Is there anyway that you could fix this so that it doesn't show an "unread" thread when in fact they are all read?

TIA,
Kori

That annoys me to. It's a bug that's existed in the software as far back as I can remember, since 2011 at least. I think it's for performance reasons that it only marks the parent forum as read, not all forums up in the tree.

Along the same lines, we don't really need subforums for these two sections. We have such a wide representation of countries here that the prefixes I created don't really make sense either. What are your thoughts on one marketplace forum with no sub-sections then we can just have a [SELLING] and [BUYING] prefix for each thread? That would clean it up and eliminate the problem you're describing :)

I can see "Pinning" some threads to stay at the top. That makes sense. Maybe when posting in certain forums we can have a drop down menu to select which option we're doing (that may be over kill, tho :p )

But there are a couple other sub-Topic sections as well... wonder how those could be adjusted. hrmmm.....

In many places where i go we just use B:/S:/Looking for: And so forth before the topic.

LOL Bull Schitt Looking For ?!?? What are you referring to?? :p

Hahaha :D

Buy/sell.... :) Though it might make better sense in Swedish :D
