Samsung / Varta 7,2V pack HELP
#1
Hello Friends,
I need your help, i just came across this used but in mint shape packs, they come from medical machines, and because of contractual and safety reasons they are renewed every X years.
Ive tested them and are just like new, i do want to build a powerwall, but i'm wondering if i should dissasembly the packs and build the powerwall as "ussual" (7S or so), ir to keep them as packed as they are to take advantage of what I assume they have is a BMS with temp prob e and such, please see the pics and let me know your thoughts, thanks!

Nice haul! Smile

I typed up another comment thinking they were 2p, but I see they are 2s, now.

Umm, depends on how you decide to build your packs. If you want a pack to be fully parallel, then you'll wanna break these apart. If you want the pack to be 48V, leave them connected and add 3pairs + 1 to get 7s.

You would just need to remove the bms as it won't work on other configurations.

Due to the age, be prepared to re-cover some with new heatshrink if you break them apart.

I think they are of limited use as they are now, you have to take them apart. Two cells behind a BMS is too small to build something like a powerwall, that BMS will constantly be in your way / limit you in terms of wiring and series / parallel connections.

Thanks for the info, so basically there is no way to use the attached BMS?!

Correct, at least not at a larger scale. The whole thing would be devided into too many small sections.

You could use the attached bms, just not in powerwall applications. Say, like with toys or flashlights/torches or other small devices.
