Safe to charge unattended

Hello all,

I'm in the process of charging harvested cells and as I'm seeing and calculated, it takes time to charge the cells slowly. Is it safe to have the charger working over night?

My brothers garage once burnt down cause of an overheating bycicle light (he bought in china) while he was charging it.

And that kinda made me a bit anxious charging unattended.

I'd like the two cents of the community...

Regards,

Ivo

I personally charge mine unattended overnight. However, if i'm going to be gone most of the day, I won't charge cells that are classified as questionable (the ones that are known to get hot)

I charge unattended too but not in the house. And in an area that if one cell catches it should not ignite all other stuff.

About the same here. However, even when I do charge cells semi-unattended, on weekends, or in the evenings, I use my RC chargers (imax b6 copy, flysky, and cheap hobbyking chargers) and place my batteries in separate fireproof boxes (metal biscuit tins).

I've got mine charging unattended outside (under cover of an open car shelter). Sitting on and surrounded by some clay pavers with nothing flammable nearby.

Put simply, so long as there is noting to set fire to, or the fire can be contained. Definitely. Having a sheltered place outside would be ideal.

I personally don't leave freshly charged batteries near anything flammable, until I am certain that they are stable.

I charge unattended as well
Opus is a good charger
Accurate voltage readings
And overcharging limits

Yep I have cells charging/ discharging, pretty much 24/7 in the shed. All on solar power

I charge in my basement unattended. Sorted and cycled about 500 cells now. Using tp4056's and discharge boards. I can spot heaters pretty quick and only charge those while I'm here. But I have been getting mostly dell packs which have been really good and stable.

Ive been charging/discharging for almost 2 years in the house, in the shed, at work and even in my car lol. Never had a problem.
