My girlfriend had her whole solar system removed yesterday (inverter 1.5 Fronius Galvo 3 years old)and a new system installed solar edge system.

The old inverter is fine. The panels are all damaged and peeling from underneath ( potential fire hazard) . I was actually really excited to think I might be getting a whole set up for free

We are not sure how old the are ( Canadian solar panels)
I'm building my own project at home and wanted to recycle these panels 7x220w to charge my own powerwall etc.
can I line the back of them with anything to seal any moisture from getting in?
I tested as you can see from the photos.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
I will post another question re the inverter a bit later. Thanks

I wouldn't use tape to seal these "cracks", would last long because of the temperature fluctuations... maybe something liquid that gets hard after a while... silicon?

Epoxy that is clear might work?

There's some videos on Youtube where a home built solar panel is built. They use this specific epoxy for the panels as the epoxy is designed for constant heat fluctuations and UV bombardment. I don't remember the name of the stuff, but you can do a search on Youtube for DIY solar panel. I recommend watching the whole video on construction of the panels as you get a better understanding of how the things work and maybe need to repair later (or before you epoxy)

Check out Shoo-goo this stuff is awesome. sticks to just about anything, stays soft in cold. and can handle a bit of heat.

You should be able to just get some TPT backsheet and line the back

Thanks for all the replies! I will do some research and and test one panel. I'll update once done done and take photos along the way.

Good project!
I'm sure you can make it work with tbe right product. Shouldn't be too hard, being the underside of the panel you don't have direct uv or rain to worry about
