Hi all,

I bought a PIP4048 clone a couple of months ago, buthave only just got it fitted and connected to mains.

I thought I'd try powering it up to test it's all OK.

I've double checked that I've got the AC input / output the right way round (!!),I've tested that there is mains arriving at the AC input, all good. I switch on the unit at the bottom - nothing. No little lights on the panel, nothing. I tried hitting the reset breaker next to the mains input a couple of times for good measure - nothing. I checked/reseatedthe header cable that comes from the mains on/off switch tothe small RS232/USBcircuit board, all good.

I've even hooked up a string of panels to one of the MPPT PV inputs just in case that made a difference.

The only thing I've not done is hook up the battery bank (which is still under construction) - I should at least be getting an AC light though right?

Is there anything obvious I could check or is this a DOA that I need to take up with the seller? (Fortunately I bought it on ebay with paypal so I have some recourse if the seller doesn't play ball...)

Thanks in advance,

John

Just a thought, you are using it with 240v ac as it will not work with 110v

Hook up a battery. An offgrid inverter wont work without the battery connected. They are powered by the battery and thats why it wont turn on. If you check the manual you will see that the battery is needed.

Hybrid version can run on either AC or battery.

Manythanks for this - sigh of relief here.

I did wonder about there being no battery connected - although I kind of expected the "AC" LED indicatorto come on when mains was attached. Good to know it probably isn't dead though-I'll just have to crack on with getting my 48V DC cabling and bus bars installed and batteries in quick smart so I can properly test it.

Yeah, Since they are offgrid they only power from battery. Its cheaper to build it that way.
