Nano help...
#61
This actually builds a lot on what we can do here. I looked at "The Combat Engineer" (Inverted 18650)'s channel and he recently posted an explanation of ADC and various bit explanations. I looked up the cost for ADC 10-bit, 12-bit & 16-bit. The 12-bit is around $1.3 (or less if you can buy a bunch in bulk). To get better resolution, use the 12 or 16-bit (tho the 16-bit was around $3/ic). As the 10-bit isn't as accurate in the ranges we'd want to be monitoring in (which TCE talks about in his video).

Another thing is, the ATtiny also has other input pins. So, we could essentially add on thermistors to each one as well.

Hi

I have a few 16bit I2C ADS115 coming to try.
They are 4 channel earthing through the I2C earth but can run as 2 channel differential voltage between 0&1 and 2&3.
They can be set up with 5 addresses so can run up to 10 differential voltage inputs only.
I'll only be running a small 24v unit for a while to teach myself a bit.

Realise that's not enough for the majority of you with 48V systems.
I am going to try to get one working with 3 differentials to see how it goes (probably not so good)
0&1, 1&2, 2&3. If that works it will allow 15 inputs so 48v would work.

Cheers
Jon

I'm trying to plan my custom BMS, and while i'd like to go with a BQ series, I'm not great at schematics so it will have to wait. I'm going to go with the single arduino per cell. under $50 is a win for me.

I've started coding and will share when i'm done. very early stages now. but I hope to get it done in the next month or two. I'm not a programmer so It will take longer than I'd hope for.
The master will be an ESP32 and slaves will be Nano's.
DS18B20 for temp sensors
looking at adding a mosfets to be able to remotely disable the pack from the master

With my skill set it will be the 'quickest' and easiest method to get the project off the ground while being safe.

When using the DS18b20 beware of that it does not work well with low voltages. So if your pack goes close to 3v or even beneath that you can end up with problem reading the voltage.
