I need help in what is availabe as it's all overwhelming with the shortened down text that im not used to yet lol...

right lets start from the beggining lol...
irun 240v here single phase (UK)
i have no option for wind/solar/hydro....
my only option is to charge battries at night when power costs 50% less

would it cost more to charge the battries than the power saved in the daydue to innecifinecy?

i dont run much heavy kw use, here is my breakdown
shower 5kw - but only in useabout 10 min
cooker/ kitchen wares, >3kw - about 30 min
tumble dryer ?kw 1 hour - not measured load, dont know actualkw rating
washing machine ?kw 2 hours-not measured load, dont know actualkw rating
everything else is less than 300w which includes the 85w fridgefreezer.

do you think its worth it? would it be worth it as a UPS style system?

on the side note, i looked into a battery pack made for my 1kva UPS, its 24v and looks like id need 56 cells at 2200mah to get about 17ah!
in reality if i was to buy new battries then SLA would be about 50-70% cheaper than 18650's! lol

Be it whether to go for solar/wind or just backup, batteries is the one items that put a high price tag. That's the reason most of DIYer is using free/cheap recycled 18650 to built powerwall. The more the better... Lithium is considered, as it has good storage capacity and discharge rate compare to SLA. The only requirements are they need to be is balanced and protected.
UPS can be used as a inverter provided you need to add more battery to it. Most UPS only has a very short backup timing.
Depending on your usage, you may need to DIY built a power wall that can output a few KW. With a high power DC>AC inverter and a high current charger...
