Hello,

I am working of my first batch of recovered cells, These came from HP MU06 Battery Packs and each had 6 Sanyo UR18650A Li-ion cells. In the videos, I keep hearing that HOT cells are bad... But no one says how HOT hot is.... A 2 of the Cells are currently ~80c, and some ith 70c range while others are as low as 50cwhen charging at 800ma. Am I on the right path?

If there hot there hot, if you touch them and go dam its hot, toss it.

Did you look the spec up? Some of the old laptop cells cant charge at 800ma

Here is what I found on the spec sheet.

If I am reading the spec sheet right (and I am still new to this) it should be able to charged up to 1500 mA. See Attached sheet in thread below.

1500mA is only when they are new.

60C is too hot, imho. At least, to be put in a major pack. However, I get hot cells a second chance. After they've rested for a few weeks (this also helps to see if they are leakers), I give them another charge. If they get hot then, they get binned. But, any cell that I find is over 70C gets binned w/o abandon. And, if they produce a smell, regardless of their temps, they get tossed.

35c and above are immediately rejected and recycled for me.

The spec sheet is for ambient temp conditions not cell conditions.

If i cant touch them at all and i feel that they are hotter ie above 35C in general on 1A they dont fit my criteria and is tossed. This weeds out most cells with to high IR and not suited for my application
