Hi from the Netherlands

Hi,

I'm John and live in Maastricht which is in the Netherlands. I've been interested in solar power for quite some time and after seeing HBPowerwall's video's I am currently investigating possibilities to build my own DIY powerwall.

I will be installing 15x300Wp panels on the roof of my house (facing west) in order to generate enough power.

The current rules in the Netherlands still allow netting your feed back in to the gridagainst grid usage but I suspect this will be changed in the upcoming years and therefore am looking into offline grid storage. Furthermore we've had some electricity outages recently and using the battery pack as UPS also allows me to keep everything running within my house.

we would be happy to see the progress of your project and I'm sure you'll get any help you need from the experienced and competent people here.

Btw, we also had a power outrage here recently and the quarter where I live was dark - except of my house I even didn't notice the outrage, read about it in the newspaper a few days later...

Unfortunately not, the power loss was late in the evening/night (around midnight) and most of my neighbors were already sleeping, I guess. But I was sitting in my living room, watching TV while disassembling battery packs .

Glad to hear from another DIYer, you came to the right place. I remember the good old days when I had satellite and a battery backup system. All I had to do is shovel the snow off my dish and while everyone else was shoveling snow waiting for the electric to come back on, I was watching football And yes, people were wondering how I had electric and they did not. I sometimes wish I could go with the DIY PV system, but I opted to get Tesla to do the install.
