I love almost anything in the DIY category. Usually costs more, but I have fun doing it. Retired EE/CS from university. House has been off grid since 2005 in the traditional fashion - large solar FLA batteries. Driving electric and the A/C gets needier every year so I put in yet more panels. The 18650 based projects have taken on a life of their own and this is great. Don't need a T logo unless that's your thing. Pretty much following every channel that has anything to do with this.

Welcome to the group, looks like your experienced in this..... If you compare the current Tesla Powerwall price to what it cost to do a DIY it is not even close, unless you purchase the cells new. Now if your including your labor, depending on what your going rate is, that would be a different story. But it is definitely fun and you learn a lot. Lots of experienced people in this group.

Agreed. The latest sale of LGs and Samsungs that were essentially new at $1 US reset the whole equation. Where I am, the recyclers are totally wise to the used batteries situation and one cannot get them in any quantities. I was buying new Samsungs at around $4 US apiece. The newer price has reset my thinking. Working up a design now for a 48V system. I'm focused on maximum maintenance capability, so the brick design will be a bit pricier than what I see being done.

Welcome :)
