Smile Yeah i looked around a long time. And i wanted DC trip and it seem this was one of the most common ones out there. In sweden they cost like 400EUR Sad
I have talked to many companies and all but never found one. Cool that i got same as you Smile

Middles connection could potentially work for the trip only since it only draws that power for a small amount of time but i dont recommend to use it to power anything. Im not sure how im gonna get the 24V yet but im thinking of beeing crude and just divide it down to 24V from the 60V.... I know its not optimal but im not sure i want DC/DC there.

The grid cable is since to be able to power the house fully i need to rearrange so i feed from the other way around. Currently incomming is 100 meter away from the solar... So im moving incomming to the solar. This allows me to feed my garage directly and i can get more umpf those minutes i need it. My paintbooth for instance takes 15kW easily Smile

So even though i aim for being offgrid day to day i still need the grid and i need to improve how it works. For instance the house incomming is to thin so i cant run kitchen stuff + laundry stuff at same time without breaking main fuses.. That is one improvment of this Smile

Correct, middle connection only for shunt trip, nothing else to prevent balance problems... got it.
New cable between garage and house/grid... to get more solar power around... makes sence...

Still expecting some youtoube goodies Big Grin

When doing a solar powered system. A system that either is grid-tie, offgrid or a combination of both its not the install you do.

You often start to look at other things and in some systems like off-grid its a must to start looking at other things than just the install.
Doesnt matter if we do it intentially or not but most of us do it.

So what am I talking abou? Im talking about general power consumption.

I have been looking at such things for I would say 8 years. Actually since i moved in to the house. I have done everything from changing out bulbs to more economical to trying to put out the lights when not in the room...
Adding motion detectors and even investing in different water pumps.

Some things are more costly than others and some things are just to get some piece in your mind!

Rant rant rant... Yes for some it is but where do I want to go?

I have started to go deeper into this and therefore i thought perhaps lets do some videos about the progress and how I did it and what I did learn!

Example:
My MPI inverter in idle takes somewhere around 250-300W. Depends on the load.
I also checked to see that our idle load without the inverter is 200w on generic day with no lights on and no heating on. With heating on it adds another 60-120w depending on what pump is running.

Yes if we look at above numbers the inverter is not very efficient. BUT... I replaced 3 UPS systems due to this... Those 3 combined used 150W in idle.... So that makes it a bit better.
Still 150W is alot and on 24hours that is 3,6kWh...

The 200w that is generically drawn is mostly some switch equipment and several surveilance cameras. Freezer and refrigerator not included since they only are used on-off. Note that above is just about instant draw and not over 24hours... (That we take later on)

What I also found out in process is that the feed back that the MPI can do is 20% off. If i say to the inverter correct 500W to the grid since Im using that it actually only puts out around 400W..... Not a big problem but need to be compensated in the graphical UI.

Video to come will be about how i started to look at the energy everything draws. How I check it out. How I determine what i need and all that. It will take some time to create this though since i want to do it good Smile


But neither less. What i found out above is that I did understand how much my PIP uses in Idle mode. I did find out that i did use less than i though since the grid callibration was off... Better trust the SDM630 meter and the Batrium software.

Wow just went threw all your story, impressive work !!

I have one question regarding your solar panel, as you put them pretty much in all direction, and you monitor every thing, would you be able to give a feedback on the power loss you get from panel south orientated vs east, and West.

My first thought was "always go south with the best angle possible". So planning my setup I was having a hard time figuring out where I was going to put enough Panel. Now looking at your video, I thinking I could use my 60m² roof side looking strait West (and in the future I could use the other side as well)

does the PIP work as just a pass-throught from AC in to AC out, if for example the Batrium triggered the Shunt trip and battery is turned off completely, meaning that PIP doesn't not get any voltage on DC in?

I tried to connect just AC in to the PIP (since my 14s packs are still not ready), and it doesn't turn on.
Does this mean it will not work at all if there is no battery connected?

Because this is a scenario I want to prevent: Batrium for some reason triggers critical state which turns off shunt trip, and battery is off, but if I don't have any kind of ATS for using grid AC when AC out from inverter is off (was thinking on relying just on the PIP) than this might be a big problem, because I don't want to stay without AC to the house (fridge mainly) if for some reason Batrium triggers the shunt.

Thanks for any tip/help/info.

That is, sort of, the logical first step to put the panels facing south. However, the sun moves in relation to our little planet and if you want a more or less decent amount of solar power for most of the day you have to put some of them east and west as well. At least if you have east or west facing parts of your roof that aren't blocked by trees, other buildings and so on.
