Well I am finally getting around to posting my power wall build.

Im hoping to get advise on how to go forward. Im trying to do this as cheaply as possible.

My build is not as big as most on here. What I am hoping to do is add an additional LED lights to the kitchen, pantry and computer work room. These lights would be additional to the existing florescent lighting currently there. They will also be motion and light activated so no wiring into the existing 110v (USA) power.

I purchased (currently 4) 144 LED 30x5cm panels to test out. They are rated at .2amps @ 24v (4.8watts) and can go up to 27volts. These seem to do a very good job and would like to run them inside the existing center part of the florescent lighting. They remain really cool. There are 4 lights in the computer room each can hold 3 or 4 of the LED panels.


I have 24 volt motion/light sensors on order.

So I need to be able to.
4 florescent lights in the computer/work room (16 panels)
1 Mini Florescent light in the kitchen (4 Panels)
1 LED light in the pantry (Have to come up with the right size as it is a small area


Part one collecting the batteries.

So far a lot more testing to go but it looks like Ill end up with 6 packs of 100 18650s. Just like Peters first pack. Im into the 3rd pack testing. I currently have 3 chargers. I wish I had his wall mounts.

I have not gotten any of the other times needed and that is what I am looking for suggestions on.

It should work well for what I need it to do.

Pretty much all I have is in the pictures above. I am really needing advice on what charge controller and other items I will need to complete this 24v project.

Well the 24 volt PIR came today. I had good hopes for it but the version above just does not seem to work correctly.

I ordered two of them and have tested them with the LED lights shown in the prior posting. They allowed the lights to turn on and then turn off with the timer setting but the lights will not remain off when there is no movement. They turn right back on.

I also tested it with a 12 volt LED strip and the same problem occurred.

Back to square 1.
 
pity about that, but they are cheap products, I like the idea might look into doing something out in my sheds... 48v version so i don't have to run a DC-DC converter.

Ya I was hoping having ones that worked like this would have kept this project low cost. I am hoping others will work. There are rated up to 30volts.

It is just strange that they function as to turn off after the set time but go right back on. I tested it with the 12 volt LED strip this morning covering up the PIR with a box. Did not make a difference.

Maybe someone else on here can recommended a good PIR for a 24 volt system.
 
Just a brief update on the PIR. It works fine using 9volts. Not what I need but it does work.
 
Sounds like another case of china translating the specs wrong.. :oops:

Ya so I opened up the new ones and compared them to the bad ones. The only difference was a single SMD capacitor that they had doubled stacked. Best reading I couldget was 5.6nf. So I went hunting for a 10nf or 12nf off an old motherboard.

After switching them out on the two defective PIR's they all work now.
