Capacity question

Good evening all,

Yet another question. Currently I have 18 solar panels yielding 3.6kW peak, feeding into a grid tied inverter. Meaning that in summertime a big amount of power is being fed back in the grid, making my meter wheel turning back.

From september till november we use this excess electricity to heat the house electricaly, as for in Belgium, I don't get paid for the excess electricity I feed back in the grid. So not using it would be a crime isn't it.

But here comes the catch.

One day I would like to go off grid with my electricity. At the moment I have an excess of about 600kWh of electricity I feed back in the grid in summer time.

But with a powerwall in summer, there's no way to store that excess electricity? Does this mean I have to go start searching to ramp up my electricity usage, like for instance warm water, no being made with gas, switch it to electricity?

Looking forward to the community's opinion

You can store the energy in summer and use it during the night. There is no easy way to store it to the winter unless you go hydrogen or any other fancy route :)

If thats your question

That is indeed my question. This means I can more efficiently use my electricity by shifting more things to electricity.

Does a solar charger inverter have a way of dumping excess power ? (for instance, batteries are topped up and solar power generated is bigger than power demanded by the house) What does the solar charger inverter than do? Simply switching of the connection between inverter and solar panels?

Hybrid system does what you want for instance.
If you take a look at my system linked from below you will see the setup i have.

I sell all excess when the battery bank is full and house will not take any more. There are other systems as well that can do this but I personally havent worked with the bigger brands.
