I currently have a Model 3 pre-ordered which I won't see till spring of next year. I was browsing Tesla's used models and came across this P85D for $46K. Obviously it's gen1, istheresomething else I'm overlooking?

I'm seriously considering taking a train ride to DC tomorrow to see it in person.....and maybe drive it back. I would sell it as soon as the 3 came.

You might overlook road construction hazards while on autoPilot.....lol

They have a good under carriage I'm sure it would just jump over anything. kind of like the bandit.

Going to see it in person on Saturday, practically sold after speaking with the rep

Its a P85 and notP85D ;) and its one of the very first ever produced, 243 to be exact. Im sure its still a great car but it will most likely have quite a few problems coming its way since tesla does so many manufacturing changes all the time. I know a few people and their gen 1 cars do cause quite some problems. A close friend has broken LEDs in left taillight again, and no warranty anymore..... As far as I know they have gotten rid of this problem aroundthe timeframe of the Dual motor introduction.

I too am looking at the used Teslas at the moment and will most likely go for a S85 with Autopilot 1 from early 2015. They have seom for about 60000 at the moment.

Yeah, not D, don't know why that was stuck in my head. I'm only planning to keep the car a year, which will be covered under warranty

If it was gen2 I would've bought it without even going to see it

Well for a year you cant really do anything wrong :D

Nearest supercharger to me is 10 miles, I wonder if I can rig some power output on the Tesla and charge an 18650 bank at the same time ;)

hahahha, well free driving for you :D, then you get 12V to 110vfor your car, take your chargers with you.and your in business. Maybe rig up a portable charging box or something.

It should be able to do 12V@14A , fuse is 15A

Charge your packs through the aux port. It should be able to handle 10amps draw. If you wanna play it safe and there are ports in the back, just connect both together parallel and keep the amps within safe range.

It was rather disappointing, car looked beautiful, sadly I think I'de be staring at it more than driving it. Had 10 pages of repair and maintenance logs. Even if I only keep it for a year I doubt ide get to use it enough to justify the loss in value selling it next year. The wait for my 3 will continue.

10 pages of repair/maintenance on a tesla??? thought they were too expensiv to repair a simple dead lightbulb?^^ i remember a case with 2 slightly damaged doors, repaircost 34k , for repairing 2 doors, i mean teslas look nice but still...

I told you the old ones have issues ::D Your totally right, not worth it. You can get good 85Ds with AP1 for good reasonable prices atm, and the are much better regarding reliability etc.
Model 3 isnt coming to Germany until probably 2019.... ::( you will get yours much earlier then I will

34k for 2 doors??? no way, seriously?

not the video i was talking about but quite similiar, but only 1 door damaged

the one i really mean had also aspects of tesla keeping parts to them self and by that having a monopol on repairs and thus making prices they like

They probably pull the cars ID from the computer before charging is initiated. They probably could even tell if the car was stolen and actually disable the car right there on the spot.
